Closing May with Renewed Perspectives

As we bid farewell to May, we continue fostering resilience and wellness. Welcome to another issue of the formula.

San Antonio Clubhouse

SA Clubhouse celebrated Mental Health Awareness Month on May 17th

With Open House Open Minds, an event that brought members and staff together with partners from across San Antonio. We were delighted to welcome District 4 Councilwoman Adriana Rocha Garcia, who spoke to introduce the event and celebrate the real, lasting recovery that individuals achieve in becoming active members in the Clubhouse community.

The Open House was a fantastic opportunity to introduce the clubhouse model to many new faces, potential members, and referral partners in the community. Members shared stories of how the Clubhouse transformed their lives, giving them hope, a sense of purpose, and a community to always return to.

Form Communities

We believe people need four pillars to support their mental health

At Form Communities, we believe that a strong foundation of mental health is supported by four essential pillars: Health, Purpose, Community, and Home. While medical support is crucial for some, many people achieve great mental health through these foundational elements.

💖 Health
Managing one's diseases or symptoms, including overcoming addiction, and making informed, healthy choices that enhance physical and emotional well-being.

⭐ Purpose
Engaging in meaningful daily activities such as work, education, volunteering, family care, or creative pursuits. These are the things that motivate us to get out of bed each day.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Community
Building relationships and social networks that offer support, friendship, love, and hope. These are the people we look forward to seeing and who look forward to seeing us.

🏡 Home
Having a stable and safe living environment, along with the independence, income, and resources to participate fully in society.

We made a video about these four pillars and how they can support mental health. To check it out, click the button below.

Quote of the Month

"You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I'll rise."

- Maya Angelou

In this powerful excerpt from Maya Angelou's "Still I Rise," we are reminded of the unyielding strength and resilience that lies within us. Despite facing harsh criticisms or negativity from others, our spirit remains indomitable. Like air, we have the ability to rise above adversity, maintaining dignity and self-respect in the face of challenges. This message encourages us to embrace our collective fortitude, reminding us that no matter what obstacles or negativity we encounter, our resilience is a powerful force for overcoming them.
