🚀 P.O.W.E.R Workshop

Elevating Impact Through Learning and Connection

Houston Peer Success extends a heartfelt thank you to all the community leaders who participated in the P.O.W.E.R. workshop cohort series 💚. It was a valuable opportunity to pour into these leaders and see them gain meaningful knowledge, insights, and practical tools throughout the experience.

Special appreciation is also extended to United Way of Greater Houston for their partnership and for providing the venue to host the workshops 🤝.

Those interested in joining the next cohort this fall are encouraged to register through the website. Organizational leaders are invited to be part of these conversations, where they can gain valuable tools, insights, and connections.

A Story of Strength: Claudia’s Journey of Impact 🌟

Claudia Salgado began her journey as a participant in our support groups, where she courageously explored her own story and discovered meaningful tools to help others. Today, she serves as a Mental Health Peer Supporter (MHPS) and a former volunteer with Connection Center RGV.

Claudia now facilitates the Arise wellness group, as well as two support groups for individuals impacted by cancer, including patients, family members, friends, survivors, and providers, offered both virtually and in person. Through her lived experience, compassion, and dedication, she creates spaces where others feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Thank you, Claudia, for your generosity, your time, and for sharing your powerful life story in service of others. Your impact continues to ripple through our community in profound ways.

Quote of the Month

"Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time."

-  Hermann Hesse

This quote offers a quiet reminder that peace is not always something we need to search for outside ourselves. It already exists within. In the middle of busy days, overwhelming thoughts, or emotional strain, there is a part of us that remains steady and calm. Hermann Hesse’s words invite us to pause, turn inward, and reconnect with that inner space of stillness. Even a few moments of reflection, deep breathing, or silence can help us reset and feel grounded again. By returning to this inner sanctuary, we create a sense of balance and reassurance, no matter what is happening around us.

Reflection Question of the Month

What are you holding onto right now that you don’t actually need anymore?

Take a moment to pause and think about this question.
