Successful Supply Drive and Resource Event

We are thrilled to announce that our Supply Drive and Resource Event this past Saturday was a tremendous success! This collaborative effort between Cathedral of Faith Fellowship Church, The Council on Recovery, and L&V Enterprises Resources INC, along with support from Form Communities, HISD, and Next Gen (voter registration), made a significant impact on our community.

Families received essential school supplies, water, and various resources, and participated in mental health assessments. The insights gained from this event will help us develop programming to better support those in need of mental health, recovery, and disability resources.

Despite having to move the event indoors due to weather, the turnout exceeded our expectations. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors, vendors, and volunteers who made this initiative possible.

Together, we made a lasting impact on our community.

Discover the Emotions that Shape Us All

This month, we spotlight Inside Out, a film that offers a profound exploration of emotions and mental health through the eyes of a young girl named Riley. As Riley navigates a significant life change, her emotions—Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust—come to life, each playing a crucial role in her mental state.

Inside Out brilliantly illustrates the complexity of our emotional experiences and the importance of embracing all feelings, not just the positive ones. It reminds us that emotions like sadness are essential for healing and growth. The film is a beautiful blend of humor, heart, and psychological insight, making it a must-watch for anyone interested in mental health.

Watching Inside Out can spark meaningful conversations about our own emotional landscapes and the importance of mental well-being.

Quote of the Month

“It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.”

- Lou Holtz

This powerful quote from Lou Holtz resonates deeply with the challenges many of us face in our mental health journeys. It reminds us that the burdens we carry, whether they are stress, anxiety, or life's pressures, are not insurmountable. The key lies in our approach to handling these challenges.

Adopting healthy coping mechanisms, seeking support from friends, family, or professionals, and practicing self-care can transform how we manage our mental load. By focusing on the way we carry our burdens, rather than the weight of the burdens themselves, we can foster resilience and well-being. This month, let’s reflect on how we can better carry our own loads and support those around us in carrying theirs.
