Growing Through June with Courage and Care

Reflecting on a month of learning, connection, and gentle growth as we welcome you to another issue of the formula.

Alamo ROSC (Recovery Oriented Systems of Care)

Strengthening Recovery Through Community Connection🤝

On Monday, June 29, the Alamo ROSC monthly community meeting and learn session was held at Diversity Recovery Alliance. The gathering brought together community members, partners, and recovery advocates for continued conversation around strengthening recovery support across the region.

This month’s session featured Jessie Higgins, Chief Mental Health Officer for the City of San Antonio, who shared updates on local substance use and recovery initiatives. The session encouraged reflection and conversation around community needs, available resources, and local recovery-centered efforts.

Through gatherings like this, the Alamo ROSC continues to create opportunities for connection, collaboration, and shared understanding among those working to support individuals, families, and communities impacted by recovery.

4th Annual Birthday Outreach Festival

Serving with Purpose, Connecting with Compassion

On May 30, the annual birthday celebration and homeless outreach event hosted by Sheldon Theragood and Theragood Deeds brought together organizations, businesses, volunteers, and community members for a day centered on love, unity, service, and support.

Form Communities was grateful and honored to take part alongside so many others who came together to serve, connect, and offer meaningful resources to those in need. Each year, the event continues to make a meaningful impact, with many people receiving support, care, and encouragement throughout the day. It also brought together individuals and partners who volunteered, donated, and contributed in different ways to help make the day special.

The gathering was a powerful reminder of what can happen when people come together with compassion, purpose, and a shared heart for service. Through outreach efforts like this, hope is shared, lives are touched, and stronger community connections continue to grow.

Quote of the Month

"Where there’s hope, there’s life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again."

-  Anne Frank

Hope does not always mean having everything figured out. Sometimes, hope is the small belief that things can shift, that healing is still possible, and that tomorrow can hold something different from today. In difficult seasons, hope can give us the courage to keep moving, even gently. It reminds us that strength is not only found in big breakthroughs, but also in the quiet decision to continue, reach out, rest, try again, or believe that better days can come.

Reflection Question of the Month

What is one belief about yourself that you are ready to soften or rewrite?
