Harvesting Gratitude in November
As the season of thanksgiving unfolded and reflections deepened, we gather those moments with gratitude as we welcome you to another issue of the formula.

Houston Peer Success : Peer Mixer 2025
Strengthening Connection Through Shared Experience
On November 6th, Houston Peer Success hosted a peer mixer with the intention of connecting peer-run organizations across Houston 🤝. It was a small, intimate gathering filled with great conversation, resource sharing, and the exchange of personal experiences. The event created a relaxed space where groups could meet one another, strengthen relationships, and feel supported in the work they do 🌿.
This peer mixer marked an encouraging start to building deeper connection among peer-led communities in Houston, offering a space where collaboration felt natural and meaningful. It was the first social networking mixer of its kind for Houston Peer Success, and the positive turnout showed how valuable these spaces can be for everyone involved. More gatherings like this are already being considered so that these connections can continue to grow over time ✨.
A warm thank-you goes to Tumble 22 Memorial for partnering in this effort and helping make the gathering possible 🙏. Everyone is encouraged to stay connected to ongoing programs, follow updates on social media, and join the upcoming workshops and meetings that continue to bring the community together.

SuperBetter: Mental Health
Building Resilience One Small Quest at a Time
This month, we spotlight SuperBetter, a wellbeing app that reframes mental health as a series of small, doable challenges rather than a heavy self-improvement project. Designed by game designer and researcher Jane McGonigal, the app uses principles from positive psychology and resilience science to help users build emotional strength through tiny actions such as power-ups, quests, and supportive allies.
SuperBetter encourages you to approach stress, low mood, or overwhelm as obstacles you can navigate one step at a time. Instead of pushing for drastic change, it emphasizes micro practices that strengthen agency, motivation, and self-compassion. Over time, these repeated small wins create meaningful shifts in how you respond to daily pressure, setbacks, and emotional strain. Try it if you are looking for a gentle, structured way to build resilience. It offers something playful enough to stay consistent with and grounded enough to genuinely support mental and emotional well-being.
"I am a huge advocate for gamification of recovery; it’s a core principle to how I run my life. There are countless studies out there on how gaming and gamification of recovery make a statistical difference in people's lives. " - Natalie Williams
Quote of the Month
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”
- Robert Brault
This month’s quote is a reminder to slow down and notice the small things that quietly hold your life together. Gratitude isn’t about forced positivity; it’s about catching the soft moments we usually rush past: a calm breath, a kind word, a bit of light through the window. These little anchors often reveal what truly sustains us. Let this be an invitation to pause once or twice this week and acknowledge one small thing that steadies you. Often, the “big things” are already here, hidden in the ordinary.
Reflection Question of the Month

When your mind feels crowded, what is one gentle way you can slow down and reconnect with yourself?
Take a moment to pause and think about this question.
