Social Practitioner

San Antonio Clubhouse

a form community

We believe in building a team of people with diverse life experiences. People who have been successful at form communities don’t necessarily have experience working in mental health. More important to enjoying this work, you will be Friendly, Engaging, a Good Listener, and have experience working in Vibrant, Ambiguous Environments. If this sounds like you, we’ll invest in training and developing your interests to fit the needs of our San Antonio Clubhouse community.

About the Job

As a Social Practitioner in the San Antonio Clubhouse, you’ll be responsible for carrying out all elements of social practice in support of members‘ wellness and recovery goals as well as meeting overall expectations for unit work, while adhering to the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs.

Acting as both a leader and a listener, you will continually assess and adjust opportunities to meet member needs. Utilizing the broad platform of the Clubhouse Work-Ordered Day, with its variety of tasks and projects, you will deploy positive experiences—both big and small—to support individuals’ recovery from mental illnesses. You will facilitate a sense of belonging and need for members in the Clubhouse community, with a particular focus on strengths, talents, and interests. You will develop positive, supportive relationships that promote hope, choice, wellness and recovery for individuals.

About Clubhouse

Clubhouse is an evidence-based model for mental health recovery where members engage in meaningful work within a community of peers, overcoming the symptoms and stigma of mental illness while supporting the daily operations of the organization. San Antonio Clubhouse has supported lasting recovery in our community since 2003.

Based on the belief that everyone can recover and lead a full, productive, and meaningful life, Clubhouse members share ownership and responsibility for the success of the organization. Working and socializing in a unique partnership with a small staff, we focus on strengths over illness. Skills acquired or enhanced while working at the Clubhouse can be readily applied to a variety of outside paid work and educational environments.
